Mixed-Age Music Together®
Mixed-Age Music Together® is the foundation of the Music Together® program. Children can begin as newborns and continue through age five, experiencing all 12 song collections as they grow. Each collection features original and traditional songs, chants, rhythms, and tonalities from cultures around the world. Songs in languages from around the world are included in every collection, creating a rich and diverse musical experience for children and their families.
Music Together® follows the recommendations of child development researchers by grouping children of different ages together in a family-style learning environment. Younger children delight in watching and imitating older ones, older children gain confidence by leading younger ones, and siblings can enjoy learning together in the same class. The relaxed, playful atmosphere allows every child to participate and develop at their own pace.
Each semester includes:
- Weekly 45-minute family classes led by a registered Music Together® teacher
- A new Music Together® song collection with a beautifully illustrated songbook
- Digital music and access to the Music Together app for listening and music-making at home
- Family activities and online resources to support music-making throughout the week
- Singing, movement, rhythm instrument play, chants, fingerplays, and musical games
- Original and traditional songs from around the world, including songs in a variety of languages
- A welcoming environment where children and their grownups actively participate together
Music Together® is a comprehensive early childhood music program that nurtures basic music competence through joyful, active music-making. There is no pressure to perform or participate in a particular way. Instead, children are encouraged to observe, explore, and join in as they are ready, building confidence, musical skills, and a lifelong love of music.
No previous musical experience is necessar. Just come ready to sing, move, play, and have fun together!
